Representative Cases

Represented a client charged with Aggravated Assault of a Police Officer, alleged to have pointed a gun at the officers. Acquitted of all charges, convinced the judge the officers were lying; has now filed a Civil Rights law suit against the officers for shooting him in the arm and leg. (People v. Glaze )


Represented Army Private in a court Martial proceeding in Fort Rucker, Alabama, charged with Homicide. Convinced a jury of Army officers to acquit his client of all charges. ( U.S. v. Lawrence)


Argued before the Supreme Court of Illinois on behalf of client who had been convicted of felony drug possession and theft that the statute under which he was convicted was unconstitutional. Supreme Court agreed and reversed the conviction ( People v. Placek)


Represented 16 year old charged with First Degree Murder, who was identified as the shooter by a local minister. Gained acquittal after a jury trial in Cook County ( People v. Crosby)


Represented a man who had been found guilty of First Degree Murder and was sentenced to a term of 60 years in the Indiana Penitentiary, before the Indiana Supreme Court. After lengthy argument and extensive briefing, the Indiana Supreme Court reduced his sentence substantially. (Indiana v. Alvarado)


Represented alleged gang leader in U.S. District Court Northern District of Illinois, charged with weapons violations. Convinced the jury to acquit client of all charges.


Involved in settlement negotiations in multi-million dollar class action case on behalf of truck drivers. After months of negotiating, reached a settlement in excess of $10,000,000. ( Hozian v SOH )


Represented home builders against gas company in Illinios. Reached an agreement with the gas company which greatly benefitted the local home builders. ( Birchwood v. Peoples Gas )


Mr. Johnson has tried over 200 juries to verdict in Illinois and has been retained to represent citizens in State and Federal Court throughout the country.
